ISSF position statements raise issues and recommendations for Regional Fisheries Management Organizations (RFMOs) to consider in their policymaking discussions and decisions.

Description

ISSF prepared this position statement for consideration at the 18th regular session of the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC), which will take place online November 29-December 7, 2021. The statement covers topics in these categories: tuna conservation; fish aggregating device (FAD) management; harvest strategies; monitoring, control, and surveillance; and compliance.

The statement also includes ISSF’s top “asks” or requests of WCPFC, along with a list of ISSF’s global priorities for all RFMOs.
