All vessels listed on the ProActive Vessel Register (PVR) agree to undergo regular auditing to verify that ISSF conservation measures and commitments are being met.

Level 1 audits are conducted by third parties — the PVR administrator and MRAG Americas — and assess the vessel attributes and other details that are required as part of the application and annual audit requirements as set out in the PVR audit policies.

Level 2 and 3 audits are conducted by MRAG Americas on a sample of PVR vessels to provide effective, transparent, and credible verification that ISSF measures and commitments are being met.

The PVR administrator is an independent contractor retained by ISSF to manage the PVR public table and records.

There are different audit protocols  — which include on-site visits — for Purse Seine; Longline; Pole & Line, Handline and Troll; and Supply & Tender Vessels. Download the audit protocol PDFs below.
