The International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF) today announced that its Board voted on September 23, 2026, to suspend PT Aneka Tuna Indonesia (ATI) from ISSF participation following non-conformance with an ISSF conservation measure, effective immediately.
ATI received a major non-conformance with ISSF Conservation Measure 2.3 – Product Labeling by Species and Area of Capture in two consecutive annual independent audit cycles. The measure requires ISSF participating companies to identify the tuna species and ocean of capture for their branded tuna products, either on the product label or through a publicly available web-based traceability system.
Following the initial finding, ATI was directed to provide a remediation plan. ATI did not provide the requested plan, and the subsequent independent audit identified a repeat major non-conformance with the same measure.
ISSF participating companies undergo annual independent audits against applicable conservation measures. Under the ISSA Compliance Policy, non-conformances are subject to remediation and review. ATI’s repeat major non-conformance was referred to a compliance committee, whose recommendation was presented to the Board before its suspension vote.
ATI is no longer an ISSF participating company.
