Vessel monitoring system

A satellite‑based observation system used in commercial fishing that, at regular intervals, provides to fisheries authorities data on the location, course and speed of fishing vessels. VMS is a key part of monitoring, control and surveillance (MCS) programs at national and international levels. T‑RFMOs require some level of VMS coverage for fishing vessels.
