Longtail tuna (Thunnus tonggol)

Tropical and subtropical species whose geographical range extends from the Western Pacific Ocean to the Western Indian Ocean. It occurs from the coasts of Japan through the Philippines and Indonesia to Papua New Guinea, and from the sub-tropical east and west coasts of Australia northwest through Malaysia and Thailand to India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, and finally to the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea. A distinctive characteristic of longtail tuna is that it is not considered to be a highly migratory species (Willette, 2019) and is instead a more neritic or coastal species.
