Performance indicators (PIs)

The Performance Indicators in the MSC Fisheries Standard context are the lowest level of sub-criterion in the decision tree when a fishery is being evaluated to get certified. The third‑party certification bodies assign the fishery a score for these PIs for each of the three core principles of MSC Certification, where 60 is the minimum acceptable performance, 80 is the global best practice, and 100 is near‑perfect performance. A fishery will get certified if its overall score is 80 or above on each Principle, and no single score is less than 60 for any PI.
