Recreational fishing or sport fishing

Recreational fishing or sport fishing is defined, in contrast to commercial and artisanal fishing, as fishing for pleasure or competition, which is not done for profit or for human subsistence. When recreational fishing is conducted in open‑waters, like tuna fishing, is also called ‘big‑game fishing’. Depending on the region and species involved, recreational fishing can be subject to fishing limits, size restrictions or catch‑and‑release conditions.
